A wonderful Mitchel Maer for Christian Dior wreath-shaped brooch. It has a 3-D effect from the double layer of marquise shaped crystals, in a shade of light champagne, that forms the base, to which has been added a central layer placed over the middle comprising marquise crystals highlighted with five oval orange crystals. Superb! Brooch is in a goldtone setting.
Fastening is a C-shaped clasp and pin, in good working order. The pin is slightly bent, consistent with age and use.
Measurements
Brooch measures 2.25" across at the widest point (5.7cms) and is 2" deep (5cms).
The brooch is signed on a plaque attached to reverse. It reads CHRISTIAN DIOR BY MITCHEL MAER which dates it to 1952-56, the period that Mitchel Maer produced jewellery for Dior. It is in excellent vintage condition, there is no discolouration to the metal and all the crystals are intact.
